A day after a man was tracked from Budhwar Peth and blackmailed, another shocking blackmailing incident has come to light in Pune’s Nanded City area, highlighting a surge in cheating cases linked to dating apps. A young man fell victim to a trap after meeting a stranger from the gay dating app 'Grindr', leading to blackmail and extortion.
According to Nanded City Police, the victim and the accused connected via 'Grindr' and engaged in conversations over several days. The accused managed to win the victim’s trust and invited him to meet in person. When they finally met, the accused lured the young man into his car. The incident escalated further as the accused took the victim to an undisclosed location, where he pressured him into filming a private video.
Threatening to send the explicit video to the victim’s family, the accused demanded a ransom of Rs 10,000. The victim refused to pay, prompting the accused to snatch his mobile phone and transfer money using UPI.

Yesterday, the Nanded City Police arrested two individuals who allegedly targeted visitors to Budhwar Peth, a red-light area in Pune.
The accused, Ayush Raju Chougule and Sadaf Pathan, allegedly followed a man from Budhwar Peth to his home and threatened to defame him publicly unless he paid ₹20,000.
