Pune’s popular monsoon destination, Sinhagad Fort, has reopened for tourists after a successful anti-encroachment drive. The campaign, led by the district administration, cleared illegal constructions that were affecting the fort's heritage.
Sinhagad Fort, known for its scenic beauty and historic value, draws thousands of visitors every year. It holds special importance due to the legacy of Narveer Tanaji Malusare and Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj.
Being close to the city, it is visited by tourists all year round. Tourists are attracted here due to the pleasant weather, scenic surroundings, and local food culture.

The administration took decisive action against the encroachments that were hampering the historical glory of Sinhagad, and the seven-day-long campaign successfully ended on Wednesday evening.
Through the joint efforts of the District Collector's office, Forest, Archaeology, Revenue, and Zila Parishad departments, unauthorized constructions on government and private land were removed, and a decisive step has been taken in a positive direction for the preservation and conservation of Sinhagad.
The state government had decided to remove encroachments on all forts and fortresses in the state before May 31. Accordingly, only Sinhagad was encroached on a large scale in the district. Taking serious note of this, District Collector Jintendra Dudi himself took the initiative.
Before taking action, notices were served to the concerned and their views were heard. The permits and documents were also checked transparently.
