Good News! 294 New Villages Now Part Of Mahabaleshwar's Tourism Project
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has submitted a proposal to the state government for approval to include 294 new villages in the new Mahabaleshwar Giristhan project, which is adjacent to the Koyna backwaters, near thehill statation of Mahabaleshwar in Satara district.

Another 294 villages near the notified area of 235 villages included in the new Mahabaleshwar Giristhan area will also be newly included in this project. The total area of these 294 villages is 944 sq. km. This proposal has been sent to the Maharashtra state government for approval.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has submitted a proposal to the state government for approval to include 294 new villages in the new Mahabaleshwar Giristhan project, which is adjacent to the Koyna backwaters, near the hill station of Mahabaleshwar in Satara district. If approved, MSRDC will act as the planning authority for 529 villages in Mahabaleshwar, Patan, Satara, and Jawali talukas of Satara district.
The draft development plan for setting up this Giristhan on an area of 1,153 sq. km in 235 villages of Satara district has already been announced by MSRDC for suggestions and objections from citizens. It will be finalised soon. In these 235 villages, a tourist paradise, tourism, and natural resources development center, along with the development of a ropeway, Ghatmatha railway, cycle track, and funicular railway, have been proposed. The government is trying to promote tourism there.
294 villages near the notified area of 235 villages previously included in the new Mahabaleshwar Giristhan will also be newly included in this project. The total area of these 294 villages is 944 sq. km. This proposal has been sent to the state government for approval. The total area of these 235 villages is 1,15,300 hectares. Now, the area of the 294 villages to be newly included is 94,404 hectares. If this new proposal is approved, MSRDC will be the planning authority for 2,09,700 hectares of 529 villages in Satara.

Maldev, Met Indavali, Mohat, Pali side Tamb, Takavali, Tambi, Vasota, Adoshi, Ambeghar side Medha, Bhanang, Gawadi, Jungti, Khirkhandi, Kusapur, Kuswade, Madoshi.
