Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: As part of the vision to build a developed Marathwada within the framework of a developed Maharashtra, priority is being accorded to the sports sector. Divisional Commissioner and Vice-Chairman of the Divisional Sports Complex Committee, G Sreekanth, has issued directives to provide all necessary facilities and ensure adequate safety measures to transform the Divisional Sports Complex into a training centre of national and international standards.
He was speaking at a meeting of the Divisional Sports Complex Committee held at the Smart City office on Thursday. District Collector Vinay Gowda, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Minnu PM, Deputy Director of the Divisional Sports Complex and Committee Member-Secretary Shekhar Patil, officials from the relevant departments, and representatives of the contracting company were present on the occasion.
Sreekanth stated that, in line with the Chief Minister's 'Developed Maharashtra' policy, it is essential to provide modern, superior-quality facilities at sports complexes to groom outstanding athletes from Marathwada. He emphasised the need to focus on creating all the necessary infrastructure to prepare athletes for national and international competitions.

He issued directives to complete the track work within the stipulated timeframe, as well as works related to establishing a Divisional Centre of Excellence; providing facilities for lawn tennis, wrestling, badminton, boxing (indoor hall), basketball, and football; arranging accommodation for athletes; and ensuring the availability of quality sports equipment, painting, electrical repairs, and restroom upgrades. He also instructed officials to submit a proposal to the District Planning Committee to secure the necessary funds for these works.

Directives were also issued to immediately address the issue of stray dogs within the sports complex premises and the surrounding areas in the interest of players' safety. Additionally, the concerned authorities were instructed to take punitive action against individuals who gather to feed stray dogs in the area.
The concerned authorities were further directed to prepare a plan to upgrade the parking facilities at the sports complex. Instructions were also issued to fix parking charges for all vehicles entering the complex and implement a 'Pay and Park' facility. Furthermore, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) should be formulated for the use of the newly introduced synthetic track and football field.
