Beed: Amruta Fadnavis Backs Demand For Government Medical College In Ashti

Beed: Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Wednesday promised to strongly pursue the demand for a government medical college in the Ashti Assembly constituency of Beed district.

BJP MLA from Ashti, Suresh Dhas, organised a mega health camp in Ashti on the occasion of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' birthday on Wednesday.

Speaking at the inauguration of the mega health camp, Amruta Fadnavis said, "This is my first visit to Beed district, and I consider it a privilege to be here for this healthcare initiative. A healthy society is the true strength of our nation, and everyone must prioritise their health. MLA Suresh Dhas's demand for a government medical college in Ashti is completely justified, and I will make every effort to ensure it is approved."

The grand healthcare initiative was jointly organised by the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, the Charity Hospital Help Desk, and the Beed District Administration.

Prominent dignitaries present at the event included former MLA Sahebrao Darekar, Dr Eknath Pawar, Dr Madhusudan Gaikwad, Prajakta Dhas, HBP Vitthal Maharaj Shastri, Dattabhau Kakde, Additional Collector Harish Dharmik, Ashti Nagar Panchayat President Ayesha Inatulla Baig, Dipali Jadhav, and Pratibha Gadekar.

Highlighting the region's socio-economic backdrop, MLA Suresh Dhas said Devendra Fadnavis has provided financial relief to thousands of needy patients through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

"Ashti Assembly constituency is largely inhabited by sugarcane cutters and migrant labourers who urgently require well-equipped, state-of-the-art medical facilities. Sanctioning a government medical college here will provide a permanent healthcare solution for thousands of underprivileged families," Dhas said.

Addressing the gathering, renowned ophthalmologist Padma Shri Dr Tatyarao Lahane stressed the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. He advised parents to keep young children away from mobile phones and urged adults to limit their screen time to prevent lifestyle-related ailments.

Meanwhile, Dr Rameshwar Naik lauded MLA Suresh Dhas for organising one of the largest health camps in the state. The proceedings were conducted by Balasaheb Talekar.

The free mega health camp witnessed an overwhelming turnout of residents seeking medical check-ups and treatment. In view of the large number of beneficiaries, the organisers announced that the camp would continue on August 6 and 7, 2026.
