Aurangabad: Six Sugarcane Workers Killed, Eight Injured as Truck Overturns in Kannad Taluka; Financial Aid Provided |

Six sugarcane workers died and eight others were injured when a truck laden with sugarcane turned turtle in Kannad taluka on March 10. The truck, which was headed from Kannad taluka to Gujarat, overturned, trapping the workers under the sugarcane. The tragic incident resulted in the death of six workers on the spot, while eight others sustained injuries.

Following the incident, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat visited Satkund in Kannad taluka on Thursday. He extended financial support to the affected families, providing Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased workers and Rs 50,000 to the injured workers. The aid was given through the Gopinath Munde Ustod Kalyan Mahasangh's contingency funds.

District collector Dilip Swami, SP Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod, sub-division officer Santosh Gorad, tehsildar Vidyacharan Kadawkar, social justice department deputy commissioner Jayashree Sonkawade, assistant commissioner social welfare Pradeep Bhagale, and Rajendra Janjal were present during the visit.

Water Resources Minister of the state, Sanjay Rathod, also visited Satkund on Thursday to console the families of the deceased and injured workers. He was accompanied by MLA Sanjana Jadhav, Anand Chaitanya Maharaj, and other officials. During the visit, officers informed Rathod that the family members of the deceased and injured workers had received government aid from the contingency funds.
