New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday, March 11, attended the 'Holi Samaroh' at Shalimar Bagh Club Society, where she made key announcements about launching river transport in the Yamuna.
During her address, Gupta also shared that she declined a meeting request from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and chose to attend the early Holi celebration with the society members instead. "You are very important to me. I chose to be here instead of meeting the Home Minister. Appreciate my courage," she added.
Praising the "double-engine government" for accelerating progress, Gupta reaffirmed her commitment to public service.
CM Rekha Gupta reiterated PM Modi's vision, stating, "The CM's role is to work, not just for show." Highlighting key development strides, she also announced that the centre has signed a MoU for Yamuna’s cleanup.
"In 3-4 months, a small ferry cruise will launch on the Yamuna, boosting connectivity and tourism in the capital," she shared, emphasising the project's significance.
Last week, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa met Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to discuss the state of the Yamuna and other major environmental challenges in the capital.
Calling the discussion "detailed and positive," Sirsa affirmed the Delhi government's commitment to tackling these issues effectively.
