Thane: LPG cylinder explodes in Kalwa; four injured

Four employees working with a gas supply agency were seriously injured after a gas cylinder used for cooking exploded at their Kalwa residence. All the four are burnt 70 to 80 per cent and shifted to Kasturba hospital in Mumbai for further treatment.
According to the disaster management cell of Thane Municipal corporation the incident took place on Sunday at 11:30 am at a ground plus structure behind Anand Vihar building, Shiv Shakti Nagar, Kalwa. The house is owned by Ranjit Singh. There is a Bharat gas agency office on the ground floor and the four who were working for the agency used to stay on the first floor. "They were cooking food when the gas exploded which injured these four. Police officials and the fire brigade reached the site with a one rescue vehicle," said Avinash Sawant, head of the disaster management cell of TMC.
The police said the four injured includes Satyam Mangal Yadav 20, Anuraj Singh 29, Rohit Yadav 20 and Ganesh Gupta 19. "All workers had suffered burn injuries and now they are admitted to CSM hospital, Kalwa," added Sawant.
The official further added the explosion has damaged the complete house. Around 11 empty cylinders in the house were removed and kept at a safe place.
"After primary treatment at Chhatrapati Shivaji Memorial hospital in Kalwa. The four were shifted to Kasturba hospital in Mumbai at 1 am on the wee hours of Monday. All of them have suffered burn injuries upto 70 to 80 percent and are undergoing through treatment," said Dattarey Kole, Chief Medical officer, Kalwa hospital.
Manohar Awhad, senior police inspector, Kalwa police station confirmed a case being registered against the concerned and denied revealing further details.
