Thane: A sudden change in weather conditions on Thursday after noon disrupted normal life across Kalyan, Bhiwandi and nearby areas of Thane district, as strong gusty winds, dense dust haze and thundercloud activity swept through the region, catching residents and commuters off guard.
The abrupt weather disturbance led to poor visibility on several key roads, severely affecting vehicular movement during peak hours. Motorists were forced to slow down amid swirling dust and strong crosswinds, resulting in traffic congestion at multiple junctions across Kalyan and Bhiwandi.
The situation turned challenging for pedestrians as powerful winds and suspended dust particles made movement on roads difficult. Residents reported panic-like conditions in some localities as thunderclouds intensified and loud rumbling echoed across the city skyline.
The impact of the gusty weather was also witnessed in several residential pockets, where tin sheets installed on rooftops were blown away due to the intensity of the winds. In a few areas, small trees and branches collapsed onto roadsides, briefly obstructing local traffic movement. However, no major injuries or large-scale damage were reported till late evening.
