'Skill Development Program To Be Designed For Jobs In Vadhavan Port Project,' Says Minister Nitesh Rane

Mumbai: With the massive Vadhavan Port project set to take shape in Maharashtra, a significant number of job opportunities are expected to be created, especially benefiting the coastal districts. In view of this, Minister for Fisheries and Ports, Nitesh Rane, has directed the development of a skill development training program to ensure a trained workforce is ready in time.

A meeting was held today at the Ministry to discuss employment opportunities related to the Vadhavan Port and the necessary training initiatives. Minister Rane emphasized the need to begin training programs immediately to prepare skilled workers for the various roles that will arise as the port project progresses. Dr. Dnyaneshwar Mule, Advisor to the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), also participated in the meeting via video conferencing.

Minister Rane proposed organizing awareness camps in the coastal districts of Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg to inform the local youth about the employment potential at Vadhavan Port and the types of training required. He urged the NSDC to swiftly design a training curriculum tailored to the upcoming jobs at the port.

He also suggested exploring the use of existing skill development center buildings across the state to host these training programs. This would eliminate the need for new infrastructure and enable faster implementation of the initiative. The Ports Department will provide all necessary support to facilitate the training efforts.

“The Vadhavan Port will bring a wave of employment opportunities. It is crucial that our youth are equipped to seize them through proper training and preparation,” Rane stated.
