Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027: CM Devendra Fadnavis Outlines Roadmap For Spiritual Event In Nashik

Mumbai: A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Sahyadri Guest House on Friday outlined the roadmap for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar from August to November 2027.

The meeting emphasised creating a large-scale event showcasing India’s rich religious and cultural traditions, aimed at elevating Nashik's global reputation as a spiritual hub. This mega event is expected to attract millions of devotees and visitors, offering them a glimpse of India’s spiritual and cultural wealth while boosting Nashik's economy.

The CM directed the construction of a grand 'Mahakumbh Convention Centre' near Nashik to display temples, pilgrimage sites and cultural heritage from across India.

The focus will be on enhancing crowd management, traffic regulation, purification of the Godavari River, and improving basic infrastructure. The CM stressed the importance of ensuring a safe and well-organised event, following the successful model of Prayagraj’s Kumbh Mela.

Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Religious Corridor will be developed to position the city as a premier destination for spiritual tourism. Key roads, including the Igatpuri-Trimbakeshwar stretch, will be widened and modernised, with 8-10 helipads built for better accessibility.

CM Fadanvis directed additional land will be acquired for creating 'Sadhu Gram', ensuring adequate housing for saints and devotees while preserving local greenery. Measures to maintain clean water in the Kumbh area and constructing sufficient sanitation facilities will also be prioritised.

The police department will deploy enhanced security measures, including accommodations for officers, extensive CCTV coverage, and public address systems to manage large crowds effectively.

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde emphasised solving logistical challenges, preserving the environment, and implementing permanent solutions for issues like water hyacinth in the Godavari.

The meeting was attended by Water Resources and Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, and senior officials. Further reviews will focus on integrating cultural and infrastructural elements to ensure a seamless experience for pilgrims and tourists.
