Mumbai: A computer systems failure was reported at the Mumbai International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) following which the check-ins for all airlines was impacted.

However, ANI reported that the normal services have resumed at Mumbai International Airport. The operations were disturbed for about 40 minutes due to server failure.

The technical snag had led to massive crowd and chaos at the airport.

Many flyers took to Twitter to raise the issue. Long queues were seen at the airport. One of the two airports in the metropolis, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is serving Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport had said, "The issue is being resolved and the operations are expected to resume in a short while."

"Our teams are present on ground and manual processing has been initiated to facilitate all passengers. We sincerely regret the inconvenience and thank our passengers for their understanding," the statement read.

No chaos at Mumbai Airport: CISF

"Due to the server down at Mumbai International Airport, the crowd is slightly more than normal. The crowd is being managed well and there is no chaos as manual passes are being issued," said CISF at Mumbai International Airport.

"Our passengers are requested to allocate additional time for check-in and also to kindly connect with their respective airlines, owing to a temporary network interruption outside the airport due to on-going development in the city," it added.

Metro digging blamed

The 'culprit' is allegedly the ongoing digging work for a Mumbai Metro line in the CSMIA vicinity that reportedly snapped a main cable of a major utility company, the IANS sources said.

An official spokesperson for Mumbai Airport attributed the glitch to "a temporary network interruption outside the airport due to ongoing development work in the city".
