The Maharashtra government has announced plans to establish advanced laboratories in 20 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state to enhance technical education, generate employment and support differently-abled students. This initiative is being spearheaded by the Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which signed three key agreements with social organisations in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The agreements were signed with the Sri Sri Rural Development Programme Trust Bangalore, Schneider Electric India Foundation Bangalore, Deasara Foundation of Pune and Project Mumbai in Andheri in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
These partnerships aim to upgrade electrical workshops and establish new labs focused on solar technology and industrial automation over the next three years.
As part of the initiative, select students enrolled in electrician courses will also have the opportunity to participate in a free 15-day training programme in Bengaluru.
The programme is expected to train approximately 9,750 youth over four years in major cities including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Amravati. Additionally, through a collaboration with DeAsra Foundation, 5,000 small business owners will receive training and mentoring support. An agreement with Project Mumbai further strengthens the initiative’s inclusivity by offering skill training, Indian Sign Language-based education, and employment opportunities for differently-abled students.
