Palghar News: 22-Year-Old Man Electrocuted By Live Wire In Vasai Farm Field
The deceased, identified as Suraj Kumar, had gone to the field as part of his routine to gather fodder. Unbeknownst to him, a high-voltage wire belonging to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) had snapped and fallen to the ground, remaining live with electrical current.

Palghar, Maharashtra: A 22-year-old man tragically lost his life on Saturday morning after coming into contact with a live electrical wire in a farm field in the Mersis area of Vasai West. The incident occurred around 7:30 am while gathering fodder for livestock.
The deceased, identified as Suraj Kumar, had gone to the field as part of his routine to gather fodder. Unbeknownst to him, a high-voltage wire belonging to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) had snapped and fallen to the ground, remaining live with electrical current.
While collecting fodder, Suraj inadvertently came into contact with the exposed wire and received a severe electric shock, resulting in his immediate death.
Local police from the Vasai police station reached the scene promptly, conducted a preliminary investigation, and sent the body for post-mortem examination. According to Senior Police Inspector Balkrishna Ghadigaonkar, further legal proceedings and registration of the case are underway.

MSEDCL officials and employees were also summoned to the site for inspection. This incident has once again raised serious concerns over the maintenance and safety practices of the electricity provider. In recent years, similar fatalities due to electric shocks have been reported from various parts of the Vasai-Virar region.
The tragic death of Suraj Kumar has reignited public outrage and highlighted the urgent need for stricter safety measures regarding exposed and damaged power lines in ritual and semi-urban areas, particularly crucial with the approaching monsoon season.
