Palghar: Demand to start junior college for Dahanu ashramshala students to solve admission issues

Palghar: Rajesh Patil,MLA of Bahujan Vikas Aghadi(BVA) from Boisar has demanded to start junior college in the Kuthal ashramshala in Dahanu so that scores of tribal students can take admission in the junior college after they pass the SSC Board exam. Majority of the tribal students find it difficult to get admission in nearby colleges and have to take admission in far off places like Palghar, Wada, Vikramgadh and there is a transportation issue to reach the far-off colleges. The letter has been sent to the Tribal Development Ministry for action by Patil.
There are around 495 tribal students studying in the Kuthal ashramshala from Std I to Std X. Post the SSC exams, the students have to seek admission in the Arts, Science and Commerce stream in junior college elsewhere as the Kuthal ashramshala has classes till Std X only, said Patil. Hence we have demanded that the junior college be started in the same premises as there is ready infrastructure available and no need to construct any new classes said Patil. The ashramshala comes under the Project Officer,Dahanu of the Integrated Tribal Development Project(ITDP).
We need the tribal students to get further education and we found some students give up studies and take to farming and menial work post SSC as there are no nearby colleges in Kutal which we need attention said Patil.
Government speaks:
Ashima Mittal, Project Officer(PO) Dahanu said a proposal has been sent to the Additional Tribal Commissioner(ATC) and is also approved by the Tribal Commissioner. It is a matter related to not only Khutal but many other ashramshala schools in Maharashtra, said Mittal. There are chances that a junior college may start in Kuthal in the next academic session said sources.
