Navi Mumbai Tragedy: 40-Year-Old Biker Dies After Crashing Into Improperly Parked Truck On Airoli Creek Bridge; Case Registered

Mumbai: A 40-year-old man from Navi Mumbai lost his life in a tragic road accident after his motorcycle collided with a truck that was dangerously parked on the Airoli Creek Bridge on July 25. The deceased has been identified as Laxman Bapu Patil, who was commuting to Mumbai for work.

According to the FIR filed by the Navghar Police, the accident occurred around 7:30 AM on July 25. The truck driver, Ravindra Shrimant Rajol,27, a resident of Narayanpur, Basavakalyan, Karnataka, was transporting goods from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai in a truck (KA 56 7998).

Truck Lacked Safety Markers

Rajol had parked the truck in a hazardous position on the Airoli Creek Bridge without placing reflective barricades or warning flags at the rear of the vehicle. As a result, Patil, who was riding his motorcycle (MH 19 EB 2617) on the same route, failed to notice the parked truck in time and crashed into it. He sustained serious injuries in the impact.

Victim Was Rushed to Hospitals

Upon receiving information about the accident, the Navghar police quickly responded to the scene and rushed Patil to Veer Savarkar Hospital in Mulund East for emergency treatment. Later, Patil’s wife, Rohini, shifted him to Fortis Hospital for further treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, he was declared dead at 1:08 PM.

FIR Registered by Navghar Police

Based on a complaint lodged by Constable Vijay Bhalerao of Navghar Police Station, the police have booked the truck driver under sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rule 22(1) of the Motor Vehicle Rules. Rajol has been served a notice and released, the police confirmed. Investigations are ongoing.
