Mumbaikars Celebrate Eco-Friendly Holi In Aarey Forest, Learn To Make Organic Colours From Flowers

Mumbai: Over 100 citizens, including students, professionals, and tribals, gathered in Aarey Forest on Sunday to celebrate a unique and eco-friendly Holi. The event, titled 'Jungle ke Rang, Apno Ke Sang', was organized by the Aarey Conservation Group (ACG) to foster a deeper connection between citizens and the forest while raising awareness about its rich flora and fauna.

Hosted at the residence of tribal activist Manisha Dhinde, the celebration was marked by a vibrant mix of fun activities and educational experiences. The event commenced with engaging games, followed by a delightful homemade breakfast. ACG members took the opportunity to address attendees on the ecological significance of Aarey Forest, emphasizing the need for conservation.

A key highlight of the celebration was a live demonstration by Manisha Dhinde on the preparation of natural, chemical-free colors using elements from nature. It included orange colour made from flame of the forest, light purple from hibiscus, dark purple from tanoli, lemon yellow from ran bhindi, pink from bougainvillea and black from coal.

Children and adults alike enthusiastically participated in the celebration, reveling in a sustainable and joyous way to mark the festival of colors. The event successfully reinforced the message of eco-conscious festivities while strengthening the bond between citizens and nature.
