Mumbai: Technical Glitch At Andheri Disrupts Western Railway, Over 30 Trains Cancelled

Hundreds of commuters faced a harrowing time on Tuesday evening after a technical failure at Andheri station disrupted suburban train services on Mumbai’s Western Railway line. The issue, which occurred around 4:45 PM, led to major delays, cancellations, and overcrowding, turning the daily commute into a chaotic ordeal for many.

According to officials from Western Railway (WR), a point failure was reported between the down fast and up slow lines at Andheri, a critical junction on the suburban network. As a result, the movement of local trains was severely impacted in both directions — slow trains heading towards Churchgate were delayed, which in turn affected down trains departing from Churchgate due to the cascading effect.

More Than 30 Trains Cancelled

Though railway authorities claimed the problem was rectified within half an hour, services remained disrupted well into the evening. More than 30 local trains were cancelled, and several others continued to run behind schedule even after 8:00 PM.
