Based on a tip-off, a trap was laid and Razaq Sirajuddin Rangrez, 35, and Aalim Sayed, 39, were nabbed near the Prime Hospital.

Thane: The Mumbra police succeeded in arresting the two accused in possession of 72 grams of mephedrone (MD) powder on August, 11 and recovered MD powder worth Rs 1,29,600 from them. The police are investigating the case further and will try to catch the main accused soon, said a senior police official on Saturday.

Speaking to the media during a press conference Avinash Ambure, deputy commissioner of police said, " The Mumbra police had received information that two people will be bringing MD powder near Prime hospital in Mumbra. The close sources informed the senior police inspector of Mumbra Ashok Kadlag and police inspector Balasaheb Nikam. Based on the given information by the source a police team led by assistant police inspector Krupali Borse laid a trap and arrested Irfan Aalim Sayed (39) who is a driver by profession and Razaq Sirajuddin Rangrez (35) an auto-rickshaw driver both the residents of Daighar area in Thane district. While interrogating both of them the police found MD powder of 72 grams worth Rs 1,29,600 from them."

Krupali Borse, an assistant police inspector who is investigating the case said, " We have registered the case against both Irfan Sayed and Razaq Rangrez under the NDPS Act under sections 8(K), 20, 22, 29 on Friday, August 12. We presented them in court on Saturday, August 13 and we have got the police custody of both the accused till 17th August. During the police custody, we will interrogate them and will try to find out more about their main supplier and the main accused who is on the run."
