Mumbai: Technical Glitch Forces Central Railway To Run Non-AC Rakes As AC Services

A technical glitch in an air-conditioned suburban train rake disrupted several services on the Central Railway on Friday, forcing the railway authorities to operate with non-AC rakes for some scheduled AC services.

An official from Central Railway stated, “The CSMT-Dombivli AC local departing at 4:00 PM from CSMT, Dombivli-Parel AC local departing at 5:32 PM from Dombivli, Parel-Kalyan AC local departing at 6:45 PM from Parel, and Kalyan-Parel AC local departing at 8:10 PM from Kalyan were all operated with non-AC rakes due to the technical issue.”

In addition to the altered services, the Ambernath-CSMT AC local scheduled to depart at 2:00 PM from Ambernath was entirely canceled due to the problem.

The sudden change inconvenienced hundreds of regular air-conditioned local train passengers. Several commuters expressed frustration over the unexpected switch on different social media platforms and urged authorities to ensure better maintenance of AC rakes to avoid such disruptions in the future.
