Mumbai, August 6, 2026: The special PMLA court on Thursday directed Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal to appear before it for the framing of charges, refusing to grant any further adjournment.
Court Refuses Adjournment
When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday, Goyal’s counsel, Rohan Marathe, appearing on behalf of ALMT Legal, sought an adjournment, stating that a discharge application would be filed.
However, the court observed that the matter has been pending since 2023 and that, during the past three years, the accused had not taken any steps to file a discharge application.
“The accused cannot be entertained on each and every date for filing a discharge application,” the court said. The court has scheduled the next hearing on August 10.
ED's Allegations
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has accused Goyal of laundering Rs 5,716.34 crore for his personal benefit and that of his family.
