Mumbai, August 6, 2026: A special NIA court on Thursday granted a pardon to an alleged Naxal and one of the accused in the 2023 killing of 27-year-old Dinesh Gawde, who was allegedly murdered on suspicion of being a police informer.

Members of the Naxal group allegedly left a note with Gawde’s body after abandoning it, stating that he was killed on suspicion of being a police informer. The case was registered at Dhodraj Police Station on November 16, 2023.

NIA Seeks Pardon

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) moved an application seeking a pardon for the accused, whose identity was withheld for safety reasons.

Another accused opposed the plea, contending that the proposed approver was not trustworthy and that his consent had been obtained forcibly or through inducement.

The prosecution submitted that the proposed approver had witnessed Gawde’s murder and had expressed his willingness to become an approver in the case.
