Mumbai reports 259 new COVID-19 cases, recovery rate stands at 98%; no deaths in city for third day in a row

City recorded zero covid-19 death for the third consecutive day on Thursday, with increasing the death toll to 16,685. On the other hand, Maharastra recorded 40 covid fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 1,43,532 till now.
After the start of the third wave on January 2. On 15th February, it was the first time that zero deaths were reported in Mumbai. Since then, zero deaths have been reported in Mumbai including yesterday and today. This means that zero deaths have been reported in Mumbai for 3 consecutive days.
The first case of covid was found in March 2020. After that, on October 17, 2021, for the first time, 'zero' death was recorded in the municipal area. After this, in 'December 2021' also 'zero' deaths were recorded 7 times.
Meanwhile, Mumbai continues to report less than 300 covid cases for the third day in a row, with 259 new cases being recorded in the last 24 hours, increasing the total count to 10,54,497. Similarly Maharashra has recorded 2,797 new cases on Thursday pushing its tally to 78,53,291.
Moreover the doubling rate of covid cases in Mumbai has now jumped to 2,407 days and the recovery rate has also increased to 98 per cent, with 10,33,497 covid patients being discharged across the city since the pandemic outbreak.
Dr Avinash Supe, heading the covid-19 death audit committee said it is a good sign covid related deaths have come down and the city is reporting zero deaths.
“We have moved toward an endemic stage as cases and deaths have drastically dropped over the last two weeks which is a good sign. But still we have to wait for the next 15 days to check if there is a new mutant. Moreover the city will be reporting incidental deaths and most of the Covid deaths had comorbidities such as cardiac and respiratory issues “ he said.
