Mumbai Records Highest Minimum Temperature At 28.9°C; Pre-Monsoon Rains Expected

Mumbai: Amidst the rising humidity levels, Mumbai has recorded the highest minimum of the year on Tuesday. The Santacruz observatory has recorded a minimum temperature of 28.9°C, which was 2.5°C above normal. The maximum temperature was at 33.7°C. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the western disturbances are pulling in the moisture, due to which there are high chances of pre-monsoon rainfall in the state. 

Yellow Alert Issued

Several districts in Maharashtra have been issued a Yellow Alert for rainfall with thunderstorms this week. For Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, the warning for thunderstorms and rain is issued for May 6 and 7. While it is predicted that the island city will witness drizzles on May 8 and 9, with generally cloudy skies.

As per IMD's weather report, on May 6 and 7, the skies will be cloudy and there is a high probability of thundershowers towards the night or early morning. From Tuesday morning, several Mumbaikars took the social media platform X to post images of cloudy weather. 

The pre-monsoon rainfall in the city is not likely to bring down the humidity levels, however, it will give slight relief from the scorching heat.

The state of Gujarat is witnessing heavy pre-monsoon rains for two days. The effect of the western winds will be seen in Maharashtra too, and 'Orange Alert' is issued for districts in the Vidharbha region. As per IMD, northern Maharashtra is likely to receive more pre-monsoon rains with thunderstorms, compared to Mumbai and its metropolitan regions.
