Mumbai : In a tragic incident in Dadar, an 85-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a speeding biker. The Dadar police on Thursday detained Yash Nandkumar Gaokar (21), the son of a Mumbai police constable, in connection with the case. After initial questioning, Gaokar was released with a notice and instructed to appear for further investigation.

According to Dadar police, the incident occurred on March 16 at around 7:15 PM. The victim, Balraj Mehra (85), was walking home when a speeding motorcycle struck him violently. The biker fled the scene without providing any assistance. Mehra was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The police, after identifying Gaokar, detained him for questioning. However, after preliminary interrogation, they issued him a notice instead of making an immediate arrest, directing him to cooperate with the investigation.

The authorities are now examining CCTV footage and collecting witness statements to gather more evidence. Further action will depend on the results of the ongoing probe.
