Mumbai News: Zaveri Bazaar Jewellery Store Employee Held For ₹36 Lakh Gold Theft

LT Marg Police have arrested a servant who worked at a jewellery shop for allegedly stealing gold jewellery worth ₹36.43 lakh from a store in Zaveri Bazaar. The accused, Anil Tiwari (25), was nabbed on May 6 from Kalbadevi and has been remanded to police custody till May 13. Police are hopeful of recovering the stolen items.

The theft came to light when Tiwari was leaving the store and Ketan Jain, Rathod’s son-in-law, checked his bag and found a gold necklace. Tiwari gave evasive answers and abruptly left the shop. Rathod was informed the next day, after which the inventory was checked. It was found that between April 10 and 29, around 371 grams of gold had gone missing.
Tiwari went into hiding after being confronted. A theft complaint was lodged, and he was arrested. According to the police, interrogation of the accused is underway.
