Mumbai: A major milestone was achieved early on Saturday in the construction of a second foot overbridge (FOB) for access to the Wankhede Stadium, as five massive steel girders were successfully installed across active railway tracks.
Positioned at the southern end of the stadium, this new FOB complements the one completed last month at the northern end, significantly enhancing accessibility to the stadium.
A Western Railway (WR) official said, "Five steel girders, each measuring 41.80 metres, were launched for the Wankhede South foot overbridge, located between Churchgate and Marine Lines stations. The entire installation was completed in just three hours—from 1:15 am to 4:15 am on April 20—using a 700-metric-tonne road crane."
