Mumbai News: MHADA To Launch Low-cost Health Clinics Across City; Consultation To Be Charged ₹1, Tests For ₹10

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) launched an initiative to provide affordable healthcare services across 34 residential colonies in Mumbai under the Aapla Davakhana scheme. This initiative aims to offer medical consultations at a nominal fee of just one rupee, while diagnostic services, including blood tests and diabetes screenings, will be available for Rs 10.

The scheme, introduced under the direction of state Housing Minister Eknath Shinde, seeks to make quality healthcare accessible to not only the residents of MHADA colonies but also the general public. Recognising the need for affordable medical facilities, MHADA has partnered with Magicdil Health for All, the organization that operates the renowned One Rupee Clinic network, to implement the initiative efficiently.

The official agreement for the project was signed at MHADA’s headquarters in Bandra in the presence of CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, senior officials, and representatives from the One Rupee Clinic. Under this collaboration, each clinic will be provided with a dedicated space of 400 square feet within MHADA residential colonies in key areas across Mumbai, including Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Kandivali, Sion, Andheri, Bandra, Juhu, Kurla and Borivali.

MHADA officials emphasized that the primary objective of these clinics is to improve healthcare accessibility for thousands of residents while extending services to the larger community. By integrating affordable healthcare facilities within residential areas, the initiative aims to bridge the gap in primary healthcare services and ease the financial burden on lower-income groups.

With this move, MHADA is set to play a crucial role in enhancing the city's healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that quality medical assistance is within reach for all, regardless of their economic background.
