Mumbai: On the occasion of Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, Gurudev Rakeshji of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur asked people to live the ‘Mahavir way’ with kindness and compassion.
On Thursday, the Jain community across the country and globe celebrated the birth anniversary of its 24th tirthankar Mahavir Swami through various religious events and gatherings. At one such gathering at Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharmapur, the organisation’s founder Gurudev Rakeshji asked people to show compassion to others by detaching oneself from the conflict of right and wrong.
Rakeshji said, “Be compassionate and kind to others without getting stuck into right and wrong. We want to prove that we were right and the other person was wrong. For that, we have set up courts of law, where we argue for hours and create a storm of thoughts for days. We don’t even mind getting into a conflict over right and wrong.”
He asked people to follow the ‘Mahavir way’ and think that the other person is not wrong but has a different way of thinking. He also asked people to respect others’ thinking instead of cancelling it out as a wrong way.
“The Mahavir way is to be good and kind where right and wrong is not important. What is more important is that I need to show some kindness to others’ thinking and others’ behaviour too. Be good, be kind, be compassionate. Kindness in action is actually happiness,” he added.
