Mumbai: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police has intensified its investigation into the multi-crore scam related to debris removal from the Mithi River. According to EOW sources, statements of six Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials involved in the tendering and debris disposal process have been recorded.

Sources indicate that the six officials whose statements have been recorded are directly linked to the issuance of tenders and the disposal of extracted debris. Among them are engineers and senior officers from the BMC. Prior to this, the EOW had also recorded statements from three contractors involved in the debris removal process.

Apart from questioning BMC officials, EOW officers have conducted field inspections across a 17-km stretch of the Mithi River to gather crucial evidence. The investigation has covered key areas, including Bandra and Kurla, which are known for their proximity to the river.
