Mumbai: For the first time this year, the BMC decided to display the schedule of tree trimming activity in the city. The pre-monsoon tree trimming will commence from Monday, April 21 and from April 19, the garden department started posting the schedule on BMC's all 24 wards respectively X (formerly Twitter) handles.
The objective to post the tree trimming schedule in advance is to inform the citizens as well as give time to move their vehicles parked on the roads in the respective areas.
"We plan to post weekly schedule on X handles of every ward and in ward offices. The citizens are urged to move their vehicles or anything that could obstruct the tree trimming activity. There have been several incidents in the past that tree trimming is delayed as vehicles' owners are not present at the spot to remove it or cars are damaged. To carry swift tree trimming activity across Mumbai, this decision is taken," senior officer from garden department said.
The post of civic wards X handles display schedule location with name of the road for atleast next four days and mentions- 'Residents are requested to remove the vehicles parked under the roadside trees to ensure safe and smooth execution of tree trimming work'.
