Mumbai News: 14-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Metro Site Pit, Supervisor Of Jaykumar Construction Booked For Negligence
According to the FIR, the complaint was filed by Faizan’s mother, Shabana Khan, 30, a resident of Bharatnagar Chawl, Bandra East. She stated that Faizan, a student of Class 7 in a municipal school, had returned home from school at around 1 PM on June 16. As it was raining heavily, he went outside to enjoy the rain.

Mumbai: In a tragic incident highlighting serious safety lapses at a metro construction site, the Kherwadi Police have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the supervisor of Jaykumar Construction, following the death of 14-year-old Faizan Parvez Khan. The boy drowned on June 16, in a water-filled pit, allegedly dug for metro construction, which was left without safety barricades, warning signs, or security personnel.
According to the FIR, the complaint was filed by Faizan’s mother, Shabana Khan, 30, a resident of Bharatnagar Chawl, Bandra East. She stated that Faizan, a student of Class 7 in a municipal school, had returned home from school at around 1 PM on June 16. As it was raining heavily, he went outside to enjoy the rain.
Faizan reportedly went near the Mumbai Bank metro station area, where a large pit had been dug for ongoing metro work. The pit had filled with rainwater. Unaware of the danger and unable to swim, Faizan entered the water and tragically drowned.
Local residents rushed to rescue him and took him to the nearby Kherwadi Citizen Facilitation Centre. From there, he was moved to Guru Nanak Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Kherwadi Police took custody of the body and sent it to Sion Hospital for postmortem.
Initially, an accidental death report was registered, but following further investigation and based on Shabana's complaint, a case has now been registered under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police investigations are ongoing.
