Mumbai: After complaints from citizens about illegal concretisation around the trunks of trees near Court Lane, Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Andheri East, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has restored back the soil around the trees.
Earlier this month, citizens' group Watchdog Foundation had complained to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the state environment ministry, pointing out the insensitive action of road contractors.
National Green Tribunal Guidelines mandate the maintenance of a minimum one-meter open space around tree trunks to ensure their proper growth and aeration.
