Mumbai Metro Milestone: Lines 2A & 7 Achieve Record 3 Lakh Daily Ridership, Highest Ever WhatsApp Ticketing On July 8
A major milestone on July 8, 2025 was achieved, as Metro Lines 2A and 7 collectively recorded over 3 lakh passenger journeys in a single day for the first time ever. According to Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), a total of 3,01,127 ridership clocked on Tuesday, marking a historic moment for the city’s urban transit network.

Mumbai: A major milestone on July 8, 2025 was achieved, as Metro Lines 2A and 7 collectively recorded over 3 lakh passenger journeys in a single day for the first time ever.
According to Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), a total of 3,01,127 ridership clocked on Tuesday, marking a historic moment for the city’s urban transit network.
Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA and Chairman of Maha Mumbai Metro said, “Maha Mumbai Metro has crossed 3 lakh daily riders for the first time ever. This significant milestone reflects Mumbai’s growing bond with Maha Mumbai Metro. My heartfelt thanks to the people of Mumbai and congratulations to our dedicated team for making this possible.”
In addition to the record ridership, the Metro also witnessed its highest-ever usage of WhatsApp ticketing, with 62,282 commuters choosing the eco-friendly, digital ticketing method—underscoring the shift toward greener, more efficient commuting practices.
