Mumbai: Mentally Ill Man Attacks Policeman At Selfie Point In Girgaon Chowpatty

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a mentally ill man launched a violent attack on a police constable stationed at Selfie Point, Girgaon Chowpatty, on Thursday evening.

The victim, Constable Shivaji Ugle (35), who is attached to Malabar Hill Police Station, sustained serious head and back injuries after the attacker struck him with a stone from behind. He was immediately rushed to Wockhardt Hospital for treatment.

Gamdevi Police swiftly took the assailant into custody and registered a case of attempted murder against him.

The attack occurred while Constable Ugle was on duty, ensuring security in the area. The unprovoked assault has raised concerns about the safety of police personnel, especially while managing public spaces. Further investigations are underway to determine the mental health condition of the accused and the circumstances leading to the attack.
