Mumbai Crime: Anti Corruption Bureau Books 2 BMC Employees In ₹15,000 Bribery Case Linked To Sweeper Appointment
The Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau booked two BMC employees for allegedly demanding Rs 15,000 to issue a permanent sweeper appointment order. During a trap operation, one accused was allegedly caught accepting Rs 10,000 as the first instalment of the bribe in Andheri East.

Mumbai, May 7: Officers of the Mumbai Unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have booked two employees of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a bribery case.
The accused public servants had allegedly demanded money from the complainant to issue a permanent order regarding his appointment as a sweeper.
The accused BMC employees have been identified as Y.R. Sawant, in-charge assistant chief supervisor, and worker S.C. Gamre, both posted in the solid waste management department of the BMC’s K/South ward.
According to the ACB, public servant Y.R. Sawant, in-charge assistant chief supervisor, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant to issue a permanent order regarding his appointment as a sweeper at Sahar Slum Chowki, Andheri East.
However, since the complainant did not want to bribe the public servant, he appeared in person at the ACB Mumbai office on May 4 and filed a complaint.
ACB trap catches civic worker accepting bribe
"In accordance with the complaint received, during the verification conducted before the witness on May 5, it was found that Sawant had demanded and agreed to accept a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant for his work. Accordingly, during the trap operation conducted on Thursday, on the instructions of Sawant, civic worker Gamre was caught red-handed while accepting the first instalment of the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant," the ACB said in a statement.
