Mumbai Crime: 60-Year-Old Man Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Minor Girl; Case Registered Under POCSO Act

Mumbai: Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The accused, who is the victim’s uncle, has been charged under the Rape sections and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently underway.

According to police reports, the man allegedly assaulted the victim while she was sleeping. Following the incident, the minor was admitted to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Shiv, where she received medical attention. A complaint was then filed with the police, prompting swift action, as reported by Loksatta.

Within a few hours of registering the case, a police team traced and arrested the accused from the residence where he was hiding. Officials confirmed that the arrest took place shortly after the FIR was lodged, according to the report. The police are now continuing their investigation to collect further evidence.

Parents Allege 4-Year-Old Daughter Sexually Assaulted At Thane School; Probe Underway.

In a separate news story related to the sexual assault, the Parents of a four-year-old girl studying at a reputed school in Maharashtra’s Thane city have alleged that an unidentified person sexually assaulted their daughter, prompting the police to launch an investigation, officials said.

In their complaint to the police, the parents claimed that a person wearing blue clothes sexually assaulted their daughter within the school premises on July 30, between 11:15 am and 3:00 pm, according to officials, as reported by news agency PTI.

Taking the matter seriously, the police have begun examining CCTV footage from the school as part of their investigation. A senior official confirmed that the school administration is cooperating fully with the authorities in the ongoing probe. Police said that statements from school staff are being recorded, and information is also being collected from other potential witnesses in the area.
