Mumbai Crime: 2 Thane Men Booked For Cheating 4 Individuals Of ₹15.25 Lakh On False Promise Of Government Jobs In PWD; Accused Absconding
The Dadar Police have registered a case against two men, Sharad Kasbe and Yogesh Patankar, for allegedly cheating four individuals — two women and two men — of ₹15.25 lakh by falsely promising them government jobs in the Public Works Department (PWD), Mumbai. Both accused are residents of Thane and are currently absconding, according to police.

Mumbai: The Dadar Police have registered a case against two men, Sharad Kasbe and Yogesh Patankar, for allegedly cheating four individuals — two women and two men — of ₹15.25 lakh by falsely promising them government jobs in the Public Works Department (PWD), Mumbai. Both accused are residents of Thane and are currently absconding, according to police.
According to FIR, between June 1, 2019, and June 1, 2021, the accused took a total of ₹31.75 lakh from complainant Pranali Chintaman Wadekar,32, and three others — Sumit, Umesh, and Rasika — by luring them with the assurance of government employment in the PWD.
When the promised jobs did not materialize, the victims demanded their money back. The accused returned ₹16.5 lakh but failed to repay the remaining ₹15.25 lakh.

Following this, the victims approached Dadar Police Station and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
