A 30-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after jumping off the Coastal Road at Worli on Tuesday. This tragic incident is the first such incident on the newly built road. The incident took place on March 18 at around 7:45 pm, and his body was found on Wednesday at 7:10 am under the Sea Link landing point ridge. According to sources, he allegedly took his own life due to a family dispute.
Police stated that on Tuesday evening, the deceased arrived at the Coastal Road in his own car. He drove around the road before stopping, turning on the car's indicator, and stepping out. He waited for about two minutes, left his mobile phone inside the car, and then jumped into the sea. A search operation was conducted that night, but due to poor visibility and lack of lighting, the body could not be located. The next morning, local Koli residents spotted the body floating under the bridge and informed the authorities. The police and fire brigade retrieved the body and sent it to Nair Hospital for a post-mortem.
The police traced his family through the mobile phone and confirmed that he resided in the Malad area (West or East has not been disclosed). Although the police received information about the incident on Tuesday night, they were unable to recover the body until daylight.
