“The final arm, number 7 at Haji Ali, will ease travel from Baroda Palace to Lotus Jetty. Our work is complete, we have informed traffic police and are waiting for their approval,” a BMC official said.
In line with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s directives, the BMC has proposed building a helipad at the existing Worli Jetty, opposite Worli Dairy, as part of a larger multimodal transport vision. Pawan Hans Ltd, a Government of India enterprise, has recently cleared the feasibility for constructing a medium-sized helipad at the site.
“Discussions with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation are underway. A consultant will soon be appointed to obtain mandatory clearances from civil defence and the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests,” the official said.
