Mumbai Accident News: Woman Killed In Hit-and-Run On Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road; Accused Dumper Driver On The Run

Mumbai: A woman identified as Chanda Mane died in a hit-and-run accident on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) on Friday after her Activa scooter was hit by a speeding dumper. The driver of the dumper fled the scene immediately after the incident, as per reports on Friday.
The accident took place near Jogeshwari, where Mane was riding her two-wheeler when she was struck from behind. Bystanders alerted emergency services and she was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival, reported IANS.
The MIDC Police registered a case against an unidentified individual and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to trace the vehicle and the absconding driver. Cops have appealed to the public for any eyewitness information that could assist the investigation.

In a separate case, Azim Zaminul Sheikh, a 35-year-old delivery executive, died after being hit by a BMC garbage truck in Andheri West on May 28. The accident occurred at around 1 am near Masjid Al Salam Chowk, close to Walawalkar Garden.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Sheikh’s scooter was hit by a mini compactor truck belonging to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Witnesses reported that the truck driver, Prakash Nanku Yadav (40), ran over Sheikh, causing fatal head injuries.

A police patrol team nearby responded quickly and rushed Sheikh to Cooper Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The deceased was a resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Goregaon West, and worked as a delivery agent for a private firm.
Truck Driver Released On Bail Later
The Oshiwara Police arrested the truck driver on charges of causing death due to reckless driving. However, since the offence is bailable, Yadav was later released on bail. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
