Mira-Bhayandar: Commuters especially those standing in queue had a close shave after a portion of the ceiling came crashing down near the ticket counter located at the entrance foyer of the railway station in Bhayandar (west).
The incident was reported at around 3:30 pm on Friday. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the mishap as the queue was not very long at the counters and there were only two to three people lined up at the ticket vending kiosk.
The entrance of the railway station premises had been recently beautified by spending crores of rupees. However, the crash has exposed the shoddy construction work and inferior quality material allegedly used by the contractor appointed by the civic authorities.
While seeking a probe into the matter, commuters have demanded a structural audit of the structure and needed rectifications to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
