Mira-Bhayandar: The anti-narcotics cell (ANC) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police raided a hookah joint found to be serving tobacco-laced products to Mira Road. Notably, the joint is just a stone's throw away from the newly inaugurated court in the Hatkesh area.

While three staffers including the manager were taken into custody and an offence against them was registered at the Mira Road police station under the relevant sections of the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (prohibition of advertisement and regulation of trade and commerce, production, supply and distribution) Act, COTPA 2003, four soliciting customers were rounded up during the raid. Scores of illegal joints and bars have transformed into vice dens by operating in the twin-city under the garb of serving herbal tobacco-free hookah.
