Massive fire breaks out at PNP theatre in Alibaug area | ANI
A major fire broke out at PNP theatre in the Alibaug area at around 5 pm on Wednesday. It took around two hours to control the fire and the cooling process was underway. Police said that no one was injured in the fire.
An official from the Alibaug police station informed that the fire broke out between 4.30 pm and 5 pm and three fire engines from Alibaug Nagar Parishad were engaged to control the fire. “Around 7 pm, the fire was brought under control and the cooling process was going on till late night,” said an on-duty police official. She added that electric equipment like sound systems, lighting systems, roofs and chairs were gutted in the fire.
Fortunately, no one was injured as there was no event scheduled for Wednesday evening. “The theatre is used for drama and other cultural events,” said the official.
Police said that locals were saying welding work was going on but it needed to be investigated. “The cause of the fire is not known. It will be investigated,” said the official.
Police said that locals came to know about the fire after they noticed thick smoke emanating from the theatre and accordingly informed the fire brigade and police.
