Maharashtra: Raigad Records Over 160-mm Rainfall, 260 Houses Partially Damaged, No Casualties Reported
While no loss of life has been reported, preliminary assessments reveal that a total of 260 pucca (permanent) houses and 13 kutcha (temporary) houses have suffered partial damage across Raigad district due to the heavy rains in last 24 hours. One hut and a cattle shed have been completely destroyed, while a buffalo and a goat in Sudhagad taluka have died due to electrocution.

Navi Mumbai: While no loss of life has been reported, preliminary assessments reveal that a total of 260 pucca (permanent) houses and 13 kutcha (temporary) houses have suffered partial damage across Raigad district due to the heavy rains in last 24 hours. One hut and a cattle shed have been completely destroyed, while a buffalo and a goat in Sudhagad taluka have died due to electrocution.
Over the past 24 hours, the district has been lashed by an average rainfall of 160.45 mm. Mhasla taluka recorded the highest at 282 mm, followed by Murud (251 mm), Panvel (245.2 mm), and Alibag (241 mm). "While the intensity of rainfall has now decreased, the damage to property has been significant, prompting immediate action from local authorities," said a statement by Raigad administration.
In Alibag, several incidents of trees falling on homes and roads have been reported. In Shirvali village, a tree branch fell on the house of Bharat Tukaram Mhatre, causing partial damage. In Khandala, strong winds blew off the roofs of 24 houses, while in Chinchavali, a lightning strike on an overhead wire resulted in a short circuit, damaging electrical appliances in the home of Sanjay Sitaram Nakhwa. Road clearance work has been undertaken on the Alibag-Roha route near Dhavar village and in Kashid, where a fallen electric pole was also reported.
In Murud, multiple landslides and tree falls disrupted connectivity in areas such as Gawliwadi, Borli, Vanzale, and Harijan Vasti. The debris has been cleared, and traffic has been restored, the administration said on Tuesday.

In Panvel, waterlogging affected areas like Kamothe and Naupada, drainage efforts by the Panvel municipal corporation ensured relief. In Bhatan, a retaining wall collapsed at the residence of Chandrakant Bhoir, causing property damage but no injuries.

In Sudhagad, three homes suffered partial damage, while in Waki Adivasi Wadi, a wall collapse was reported at the house of Chimi Sadhu Wagh. In Unegaon, the house of Ganesh Laxman Mahadik was damaged by heavy rains, and similar damage was reported at the house of Niyaz Abdullah Kondvilkar in Sai village.
Despite the property losses, no human casualties have been reported so far. The district administration has assured that assessment surveys and relief measures are underway, and necessary support is being extended to the affected families. Officials have confirmed that all rivers in the district are flowing below the warning level, and traffic on both major roads and railway routes is running smoothly.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as intermittent rains persist, urging residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
