Indian Navy Foils Pirate Attack, Rescues Hijacked Iranian Fishing Vessel 'Al Kambar 786' In Arabian Sea
The Iranian Fishing Vessel 'Al Kambar 786' was hijacked on Thursday night approximately 90 Nautical Miles South West of Socotra by nine armed pirates.
An Iranian Fishing Vessel was intercepted by the Indian Navy warships deployed on anti piracy mission patrol late Friday night to thwart pirate attack.
The Iranian Fishing Vessel 'Al Kambar 786' was hijacked on Thursday night approximately 90 Nautical Miles South West of Socotra by nine armed pirates.
Based on inputs of potential pirates attack, Indian Navy diverted two warships deployed in Arabian Sea for maritime security operations to intercept the hijacked fishing vessel.
“The hijacked fishing vessel has been intercepted and operation is currently underway by the Indian Navy to rescue the vessel and its crew,” confirmed Indian Navy spokesperson.
Pirates Surrender To Indian Navy
In the latest update, pirates onboard the Iranian Fishing Vessel FV Al Kambar 786 hijacked on Thursday night were forced to surrender by Indian Navy after 12 hours of intense coercive tactical action and 23 Pakistani crew rescued.
The hijacked Iranian Fishing Vessel was intercepted by the Indian Navy warship INS Sumedha late Friday to thwart pirate attack and joined subsequently by the guided missile frigate INS Trishul.
23 Pakistani Nationals Rescued In Operation
“The pirates on board hijacked FV were forced to surrender. The crew, comprising 23 Pakistani nationals, have been safely rescued,” said Indian Navy spokesperson.
Indian Naval specialist teams are presently undertaking thorough sanitisation and seaworthiness checks of the Iranian FV in order to escort her to a safe area for resuming normal fishing activities.
