Guru Purnima was celebrated with much enthusiasm at all the ashrams of revered saint Swami Adgadanand Maharaj across India. While around 25 lakh devotees participated in the celebrations at the Paramhans Ashram in Chunar village of Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district, thousands of his devotees participated in the celebration at his ashrams near Mumbai.
At the Palghar ashram, Mahant Jung Bahadur Maharaj, emphasised the significance of Guru Purnima. “The syllable ‘Gu' signifies darkness, and 'Ru' refers to the one who removes that darkness. The guru is one who dispels ignorance from life. Upanishads describe the qualities of a true guru, who is knowledgeable in the Vedas, practices yoga, lives a moral life, and guides their disciples on the right path. The Guru's place in life is paramount, as they lead the soul towards self-realisation,” he said.
While every devotee received free copies of the Yatharth Gita along with prasadam, the ashram organised for drinking water, medical aid, security and parking to ensure the comfort of devotees.
