Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Friday, officially calling it a 'courtesy visit.' But behind the pleasantries, political circles are abuzz with speculation of a cabinet reshuffle in Maharashtra.

The closed-door meeting at Shah’s Parliament office lasted around 25 minutes, reportedly covering not just alliance friction within the Mahayuti, but also the performance and portfolios of some state ministers.

“Had a courtesy meeting with our leader, Hon Union Home Minister, Minister of Cooperation @AmitShahji in New Delhi,” Fadnavis posted on X.

However, insiders suggest this was more than just protocol.

Controversial Ministers May Be Shown the Door

According to reports, discussions were held on replacing or reassigning ministers facing allegations or public backlash. The names of Sanjay Shirsat, Sanjay Rathod, Yogesh Kadam, and Manikrao Kokate are reportedly being considered for removal.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut stoked the buzz, claiming that “some ministers will soon be dropped” in a tactical move to clean the cabinet ahead of local body elections.

Chemical Project Gets Centre’s Green Light

Apart from political churn, the Fadnavis-Shah meeting also discussed development projects. A major chemical factory proposal has received Centre’s approval, a move that could boost industrial growth and employment in Maharashtra.

Poll Pressure Mounts

Maharashtra is gearing up for local body elections, pending since 2022 due to OBC reservation litigation. Adding to the intrigue, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray recently shared a stage after two decades, fueling talk of a possible alliance, a move that could reshape the Mahayuti’s game plan.
