CM Eknath Shinde promises land in Satara district for Bangalore-Mumbai Industrial Corridor

Mumbai: With the change in the government, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday at the maiden meeting of the Apex Authority for industrial corridor projects announced that necessary land will be allocated for the Bangalore-Mumbai Industrial Corridor work which has not started due to lack of suitable land. However, he said at the meeting chaired by finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman that the land at Koregaon in Satara will be allotted for this corridor and the land acquisition process will be started immediately.

The Government of India has planned the development of the Bengaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor between Bengaluru and Mumbai, which would have an influence area spread across the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. The government expects to attract investment of Rs 3 lakh crore. In the first phase, Dharwad in Karnataka (approx. 6,400 acres) and Satara in Maharashtra (approx. 12,355 acres) have been identified as potential nodes.

The Bengaluru Mumbai Industrial Corridor is intended to facilitate development of a well-planned and resource-efficient industrial base served by world-class sustainable connectivity infrastructure, bringing significant benefits in terms of innovation, manufacturing, job creation and resource security to these states.

Shinde also raised the issue of expediting the work of a 'bulk drug park' near Dighi port in Maharashtra and Union finance assured that a special review of the project will be conducted by October. The bulk drug park was proposed by the Maha Vikas Aghadi government which had earmarked 5,000 acres of land covering 17 villages in Roha and Murud tehsils of the Raigad district for the project.

Shinde also seconded the proposal of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan about the Varanasi-Mumbai industrial corridor.

Further, a textile park, medical park and bulk drug park are proposed to be set up in Maharashtra and if the Centre gives the nod, work can start immediately, Shinde said. The Auric City in Shendra-Bidkin area is in Aurangabad.
