Bhiwandi Police Tighten Security And Announce Traffic Curbs Ahead Of Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi Procession

Bhiwandi: Ahead of the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi procession on August 26, the Bhiwandi police have stepped up security and traffic arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations and smooth movement of people and vehicles. A meeting of senior police officials, Muslim religious leaders and social representatives was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Pawan Bansod, with participants stressing the need to maintain peace, communal harmony and law and order during the procession.

Community leaders assure police cooperation for maintaining peace during procession

Representatives of the Tanzim Ulama-e-Ahle Sunnat Committee, along with Maulana Shamshad Noori, Maulana Rafiq Alam, Maulana Shahnawaz Hussain, Maulana Faheem-ul-Islam, Maulana Mehtab Alam, Maulana Ali Hussain Hashmi, Mufti Farhan Raza, Maulana Hafiz Shaban, Maulana Rahat Hussain, Maulana Muazzam, Maulana Zeeshan, Zainuddin Bhai, Anees Akhtar, Haji Shakeel, Haji Mujammil and Ejaz Sheikh, among others, attended the meeting.

During the discussion, religious leaders raised concerns over potholes and the poor condition of roads along the proposed procession routes. They urged the civic administration to undertake urgent repairs through the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation before the procession.

The community representatives assured the police that all possible efforts would be made to maintain peace and communal harmony during the procession. They also assured the police administration of cooperation in its efforts to curb rising crime and drug-related activities in the city.

Police officials made it clear that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb law and order. The community representatives supported the police administration's stand and assured their cooperation.

DCP Dr Pawan Bansod said maintaining peace and law and order requires the collective efforts of people from all sections of society. He also expressed satisfaction over the cooperation being extended by citizens to the police.

Traffic restrictions from noon on August 26

Meanwhile, the Thane City Traffic Police have issued a special traffic regulation plan for Bhiwandi in view of the large Eid-e-Milad procession and the expected movement of a large number of people.

According to the notification issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat, restrictions will remain in force from 12 noon on August 26 until midnight or till the procession concludes, whichever is later. The restrictions will cover vehicle entry, diversions and parking on key routes.

Emergency vehicles exempted while heavy traffic movement to be diverted

Emergency and essential service vehicles, including fire brigade vehicles, ambulances and police vehicles, will be exempted from the restrictions.

At Ambadi Naka–Wada Road, entry of heavy vehicles heading towards Bhiwandi will be prohibited. Such vehicles will have to use National Highway 8 or the BMC Pipeline Road to reach their destinations.

At Parol Phata–Nadi Naka, vehicles approaching Bhiwandi from Wada Road via Nadi Naka will not be permitted to enter. Light vehicles will be diverted from Parol Phata towards Khoni Gaon, Talavali Phata and Kamba Road, and thereafter towards Vasai Road, Kariwali or Vishwabharati Phata and Gorsai Gaon.

ST, KDMT and other buses to follow alternate routes during procession hours

At Dhamangaon, Jamboli Pipeline and Chavindra Naka, vehicles, including ST buses, entering Bhiwandi through the Vadapa Checkpost will be stopped. Vehicles will be diverted towards Wada through the Dhamangaon Pipeline route. ST buses will drop passengers at Chavindra Jakat Naka before returning.

At the old Thane-Agra Road near the ST stand, vehicles travelling from Thane and Kalyan towards Wada, Chavindra and Nashik will not be allowed to proceed on the restricted route. They will be diverted from the ST stand towards Vetalpada and Nagaon Road.

A major restriction has also been imposed at Ranjnoli Naka, where ST and KDMT buses, heavy and light vehicles, as well as two- and three-wheelers entering Bhiwandi city will be stopped.

Heavy and light vehicles will instead be diverted via the Mumbai-Nashik Bypass Highway, using Mankoli Naka towards Anjur Phata, Vasai Road or Owali Khind. ST, KDMT and TMT buses will drop passengers at Ranjnoli Naka before returning.

No-parking along procession route

A complete no-parking restriction will be enforced on both sides of the road along the procession route, covering the stretch from Kotar gate Mosque, Rambhavan Hotel, Chand tara Mosque, Patel Mosque, Panjarpol Chowk, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Chowk (Vanjarpatti Naka), Mamta Hospital to Mama-Bhanja Dargah.

The police and traffic authorities have appealed to motorists and residents to cooperate with the restrictions and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid congestion and inconvenience during the procession.
